Conception of the idea!
It all began back in 2019, before the pandemic — with the dream of creating a unique nature experience in Puerto Rico. When COVID arrived, the project was put on hold.
The search for land starts again in 2025!
In 2025, the journey resumes — the vision comes back to life as the search for the perfect land begins once more.
Discovery Journey to Utuado
A visit to Utuado reveals the ideal location. Here, the vision of UKŌA is born — and its name, inspired by connection, nature, and balance, is chosen.
Construction Partners Identified
Strategic partners join the project. Site visits and early collaboration begin to shape the foundation of what’s coming.
Land is Purchased
July 2025 — A milestone moment: the land is officially acquired, marking the beginning of Ukōa’s physical journey in the heart of Puerto Rico.
Creative and Vision Journey
In collaboration with Creative Pear, the creative direction takes shape — from the initial idea to logo design, visual identity, and website concept.
Design Refinement
Cabin concepts evolve — medium and large models are refined to blend comfort, sustainability, and harmony with nature.
Topographical Map and Study
A detailed topographical study is conducted to understand the terrain and guide the next stages of planning.
Conceptual Master Plan Designs
Strategic partners join the project. Site visits and early coordination begin to shape the foundation of what’s coming.
Meeting with Engineers
Ukōa’s vision becomes technical reality as engineers collaborate to develop the official master plan.
Permitting Begins
With master plans submitted, the permitting process starts — paving the way for construction approval.
Phases 1–4 Mapped Out
Each development phase is defined and visualized — from the first cabins to the complete eco-retreat layout.
Green Light for Construction and Fabrication
Approvals are in place, materials are sourced, and the groundwork begins — Ukōa’s creation is set in motion.
Building Starts
Construction officially begins — transforming Ukōa from an idea into a living, breathing destination in the mountains of Puerto Rico.
